EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a first-line treatment method for people with PTSD and other trauma. It is made up of eight different “phases” of treatment. It has years of evidence-based research and is supported and used by organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), US Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the Department of Defense, and others.
It is a type of trauma treatment that was used by clinicians “on the ground” during September 11th and the Oklahoma City Bombing to help people process those events.
