Insurance and You
At the present time, Finding Your Way Psychological Services is accepting Aetna, Premera Blue Cross, Tri-West, Alaska Medicaid, and Optum; we are out of network with other insurers at this time, and you will need to check to see if out-of-network providers are covered. We will be able to provide you with a monthly superbill to be able to provide to your insurance company for reimbursement. Remember that you are financially responsible if insurance does not cover psychological services. These companies cover individual therapy, and psychological testing too, if certain criteria are met. You will need to check with your insurance provider to ensure that telehealth is a covered service. Additionally, please check to see if there is a co-pay as some insurance companies may be waiving co-pays for mental health services during this time.
Insurance is useful because it helps keep out-of-pocket costs as minimal as possible. However, there are questions that you will need to answer before your first session. Please check the following information beforehand with your insurance company:
- What is my deductible? Has my deductible been met?
- Do I have a co-pay? How much is it?
- What will my insurance cover after my deductible has been met?
- What are the number of sessions I have with Dr. McConnell?
These insurance companies and Finding Your Way Psychological Services have agreed to a specific rate of services after the deductible has been applied. If you have insurance and choose not to use your insurance with us, you will be charged out-of-pocket the full negotiated rate that we have with your insurance plan. This is done as a requirement by the insurance companies; they consider it fraudulent if we charge a different rate than what the insurance company would reimburse. Your fee, should you choose not to use insurance, will be paid out-of-pocket at the time of session.
Please call your insurance company to determine the requirements for you to be able to see us. We understand that working with insurance companies is time-consuming and difficult and we want you to maximize your time with us during your session without having to use your time calling your insurance and figuring out what information is needed to work with your specific insurance company and plan. At this time we do not accept individuals with double coverage.
Finding Your Way Psychological Services does perform courtesy billing so you don’t have to bill insurance yourself.
Double Coverage Insurance:
Due to the difficulty of billing multiple insurers and because of the waiting time to receive reimbursement from insurers, we only accept doubly insured individuals if the full-fee is paid upfront. We will then provide you with a super-bill to submit to your insurance carriers for reimbursement.
